Sri Lanka’s headline inflation increased to 8% in August 2026, up from 7.3% in July, according to the Colombo Consumer Price Index published by the Department of Census and Statistics.
Food inflation also rose significantly, increasing from 6.3% in July to 8.5% in August.
Meanwhile, non-food inflation recorded a slight decline, falling from 7.8% in July to 7.7% in August.
