No Fuel Shortage – Public Urged Not to Panic

The Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association has urged the public not to panic-buy or stockpile fuel, stating that there is no fuel shortage or disruption to fuel distribution across the country.

Association Chairman A.M.H. Adhikari said queues had been observed at several fuel stations because some filling stations had failed to place their fuel orders on time.

Commenting on concerns regarding fuel transportation commission rates, he said the formula currently used to calculate the commission should be revised.

He noted that the existing formula does not adequately take into account transportation commission rates applicable to the hill country and Southern Province.

The association has submitted a request regarding the matter, and steps are currently being taken to revise the relevant formula, including the commission components that had previously been omitted, he further stated.
