Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka says the government does not intend to request an increase in electricity tariffs for the upcoming quarter.
Speaking in Parliament today (11), the Minister said that higher-than-expected rainfall in recent months had helped control electricity generation costs to some extent.
As a result, there is no need to increase electricity tariffs for the upcoming quarter, and the government does not intend to submit a request for an electricity tariff increase, he said.
The Minister also said that the Energy Ministry has already taken the necessary measures to ensure continuous electricity generation and supply during the first three months of next year.
