New Maximum Retail Prices (MRPs) have been set for locally produced canned fish, with a Gazette notification issued in this regard.
Accordingly, maximum retail prices have been fixed for canned fish varieties including tuna and jack mackerel.
The maximum retail price of a processed can of tuna weighing 155 grams net, with a liquid-free weight of 105 grams or more, has been set at Rs. 220. Meanwhile, the price of a 425-gram can with a liquid-free weight of 280 grams or more has been fixed at Rs. 510.
The maximum retail price of a 155-gram can of jack mackerel, with a liquid-free weight of 105 grams or more, has been set at Rs. 260, while the price of a 425-gram can has been fixed at Rs. 600.
The Consumer Affairs Authority stated that the relevant canned fish products must not be sold, offered for sale, or displayed for sale at prices exceeding the stipulated maximum retail prices.
