The selection process for beneficiaries under a new phase of the Aswesuma Welfare Benefits Scheme has been completed, Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment Upali Pannilage has said.
He said the new list of beneficiaries is expected to be published within the next few weeks, after which an opportunity will be provided for individuals to submit appeals regarding the list.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha Fernando recently told Parliament that a re-survey of Aswesuma beneficiaries had been conducted.
The Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance had also instructed officials to revise the eligibility criteria used to select future beneficiaries under the Aswesuma Welfare Benefits Scheme.
