Lanka Sathosa has reduced the prices of 11 essential commodities with effect from today (24), the Ministry of Trade announced.

The Ministry stated that the price reductions were introduced to provide relief to consumers.

Accordingly, the price of red onions has been reduced by Rs. 71 per kilogram, red dhal by Rs. 18 per kilogram, and chickpeas by Rs. 8 per kilogram.

Prices of several other essential items, including red raw rice, big onions, potatoes, local Nadu rice, white sugar, wheat flour and canned fish, have also been reduced.

Consumers can purchase these items at the revised concessionary prices from all Lanka Sathosa outlets islandwide, according to the Ministry of Trade.
