Global gold prices edged lower on Tuesday (01) as traders focused on tensions in the Middle East and key US labour market data scheduled for release later this week.
Spot gold fell by 0.3% to US$4,437.10 per ounce.
Meanwhile, gold futures rose by 0.1% to US$4,485.30 per ounce.
US President Donald Trump has also warned of the possibility of further attacks against Iran, adding to tensions in the Middle East.
Foreign media reported that oil prices continued to rise for a second consecutive day amid the escalating regional tensions.
Analysts noted that higher interest rates generally increase the attractiveness of interest-bearing assets, which can place pressure on gold prices.
Among other precious metals, silver rose by 0.3% to US$66.34 per ounce, while platinum gained 0.1% to US$1,793.03 per ounce.
Palladium was recorded at US$1,356.75, according to foreign media reports.
