The number of tourists arriving in Sri Lanka so far this year has surpassed the 1.5 million mark.
According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, a total of 1,517,296 tourists arrived in the country from January 1 to August 27.
Meanwhile, 173,878 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka between August 1 and August 27.
India recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals during August so far, with 41,781 visitors.
The United Kingdom ranked second with 18,197 visitors, while China ranked third with 11,368 visitors.
India has also recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals during the year so far, with 380,011 visitors.
In addition, 148,598 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom, while 99,875 tourists arrived from China during the period.
The highest monthly tourist arrivals recorded so far this year were in February, with 279,328 visitors.
