A special expert committee has been appointed to study a proposal to establish an intermediate grade for medical officers and submit recommendations on its implementation.
The committee was appointed on the instructions of Minister of Health and Mass Media Nalinda Jayatissa, with Deputy Minister Hansaka Wijemuni set to serve as its chairperson.
The committee is expected to conduct a comprehensive study on defining the proposed intermediate grade and identifying the medical fields to be included under it.
It will also examine the procedure for selecting medical officers for the relevant fields, the duration of the proposed grade, and the benefits to be provided.
Following the study, the committee is expected to submit its recommendations on the proposed framework.
