Following the introduction of monetization practices on Facebook and other social media platforms, there has been a growing trend of uploading children’s photographs and videos online, either with or without parental consent.
It has been observed that various individuals and organizations use such videos for commercial purposes, while claiming to showcase children’s talents or highlight their interesting activities.
The exposure of children’s daily lives to strangers through such videos and vlogs could pose serious risks to their personal safety and privacy.
There is also a risk that photographs and videos of children uploaded online could be used as source material to create inappropriate or sexually explicit content using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Therefore, parents and all those responsible for the care and protection of children are advised to act with greater awareness and responsibility when using social media in order to protect children from such risks.
