A 17-year-old boy, Arjun Aravind, has been charged with two counts of murder and several other offences following the deaths of his mother and younger brother in Acton, Massachusetts.
Aravind’s mother, 45-year-old Sudha Venkatesan, and his 14-year-old brother, Siddharth Aravind, were found dead at their home, prompting an investigation into the incident.
Investigators reportedly found that the teenager had recently engaged in disturbing online activity, including using the internet and ChatGPT to explore violent fantasies and fictional scenarios involving his family. Authorities also allege that he used ChatGPT to create fictional, gothic-style stories featuring characters and situations that appeared to involve threats against his family.
Police became involved after Aravind’s father contacted authorities because he was unable to reach family members. The teenager was subsequently arrested.
The official causes of death remain pending a determination by the medical examiner, according to reports.
