SriLankan Airlines Denies IT Systems Hacked

SriLankan Airlines has strongly rejected media reports and claims that its information technology (IT) systems have been compromised and placed under the control of hackers.

In a statement, the airline said the allegations appeared to be based on a report published about a cyberattack allegedly carried out by an external party on June 29, 2026.

The airline stated that it immediately initiated investigations, technical assessments and precautionary measures after becoming aware of the report.

According to the findings of these investigations, there had been no unauthorised access to the company's internal IT or operational systems, no unauthorised data extraction and no disruption to its services, the statement said.

The airline further confirmed that all its systems and services, including email, continued to operate without interruption and that its operations had not been affected.

SriLankan Airlines also stated that the party concerned had not demanded ransom in Bitcoin, US dollars or any other form. It added that no discussions had taken place regarding the payment of a ransom.

Accordingly, the airline has categorically rejected allegations that its IT systems are under the control of hackers.

The company reiterated its commitment to safeguarding its information systems and continuing to provide reliable services to passengers, employees and business partners.

Meanwhile, a report alleging that SriLankan Airlines' IT systems had fallen into the hands of hackers had been made public by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara.
