At least six people have been killed and several others injured after a student opened fire at a school in Thailand before turning the gun on himself, according to foreign media reports.
The shooting took place at Debsirin Nonthaburi School, located on the outskirts of Bangkok, shortly after 10am local time on Friday.
Police said the suspected gunman, believed to be a 14-year-old student, died by suicide after the attack.
Students were evacuated from the school as emergency teams transported the injured to hospitals. Security forces were deployed to secure the area and control the situation.
Police said the motive behind the shooting was still under investigation. The firearm used in the attack was believed to have been taken from a member of the student’s family.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed condolences over the incident and instructed officials to provide assistance to the victims.
