Global crude oil prices rose again today (18) following US President Donald Trump’s threat to bomb Oman.
Brent crude rose above the US$90 mark, reaching US$91.24 per barrel.
Meanwhile, Murban crude increased to US$97.70 per barrel, while WTI crude rose to US$85 per barrel.
During an interview with Fox News journalists yesterday (17), Trump reportedly said Oman would face bombing if talks with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz were disrupted.
Iran and Oman are currently holding separate discussions regarding the management of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States is also engaged in talks on the issue.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s major oil transportation routes, and any disruption or security threat in the area could have a significant impact on global oil markets.
