An emergency has been declared in the U.S. states of New York and New Jersey due to a powerful Nor’easter storm.
The storm is moving toward the northeastern United States, causing widespread impacts including coastal flooding, power outages, disruptions to transportation and the cancellation of various outdoor events.
Millions of people are reportedly facing severe disruptions due to the storm.
According to the latest report from the U.S. National Weather Service, several areas, including New York and Boston, could experience severe coastal flooding, strong winds and heavy rainfall.
As a result, emergencies have been declared in New York and New Jersey, while heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast from Virginia to Maine.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, a concert by renowned singer Ed Sheeran, which was scheduled to be held in Boston, has also been cancelled.
More than 100,000 customers have lost power due to the storm. Meanwhile, 1,199 flights have been completely cancelled, while more than 2,400 others have been delayed.
