Court halts Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom project

A US federal appeals court has ordered the Trump administration to immediately halt all construction work on a proposed $400 million ballroom at the White House.

In its ruling, the panel of judges stressed that the US president is a temporary resident of the White House, rather than its owner.

According to foreign media reports, the Trump administration had planned to construct the ballroom on the eastern side of the White House.

The proposed ballroom is expected to cover approximately 90,000 square feet, with an estimated construction cost of $400 million.

The Trump administration has been given 14 days to appeal the federal appeals court’s ruling to the US Supreme Court if it is dissatisfied with the decision.
