A 10-year-old girl has died in a road accident near D.S. Senanayake Primary School on the road from Dahaiyagama Roundabout towards Houses 55 in Anuradhapura, according to Anuradhapura Headquarters Police.
The deceased has been identified as Sammani Tharunima Ekanayake, a 10-year-old girl from Vijayapura.
The accident occurred when a motorcycle collided with a bus belonging to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB).
The woman riding the motorcycle was travelling with the girl along the left side of the road from Dahaiyagama Roundabout towards Houses 55 when the accident occurred.
At the time, an SLTB bus belonging to the Anuradhapura Depot was travelling behind the motorcycle in the same direction, from Anuradhapura towards Thiruvila, and collided with it.
