Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala has stated that assistance from the US court will be sought to bring former Minister Basil Rajapaksa back to Sri Lanka, as warrants have been issued against him for failing to appear before courts in ongoing cases.
The Minister told the Divaina newspaper that steps will be taken through the assistance of Interpol and the US court to proceed with the necessary legal action.
He further stated that if Sri Lanka requires the presence of a suspect who is residing in any country, and if that person is a citizen of that country, assistance from the relevant country’s court must be obtained to bring the individual back to Sri Lanka.
