Two people have died after a three-wheeler fell into a stream near Mohini Ella in the Nallathanniya Police Division.

The accident occurred on the morning of July 22, 2026, when a three-wheeler travelling from Mulgama towards Laxapana veered off the road and fell into Mohini Ella. Nallathanniya Police have commenced investigations into the incident.

At the time of the accident, the three-wheeler was carrying the driver, three schoolchildren, and another male passenger.

The driver and the male passenger were admitted to the Maskeliya Hospital but later succumbed to their injuries. The deceased were identified as residents of the Nallathanniya area aged 46 and 26 years.

The three injured schoolchildren were initially admitted to the Maskeliya Hospital and later transferred to the Dickoya Hospital for further treatment.
