Two people have died following a road accident in the Kanagarayankulam Police Division.

The accident occurred on July 30, 2026, morning, near the 217 km post on the A9 Road when a cab traveling towards Jaffna veered off the road after the driver lost control and collided with a tree.

The driver and the assistant, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, were admitted to the Mankulam Hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.

Police stated that the deceased were residents of Velvettithurai and were aged 21 and 22 years.

Further investigations into the accident are being conducted by the Kanagarayankulam Police.
