Two Held with 34,000 Duty-Free Cigarettes

A man and a woman were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake after authorities seized 34,000 duty-free cigarettes (170 cartons) allegedly brought into the country illegally.

The arrests were made this morning (July 16) during a raid conducted by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau Airport Unit at the airport's arrival terminal.

The suspects, aged 27 and 33, are residents of Minuwangoda. Further investigations are being carried out by the Police Narcotics Bureau Airport Unit.
