Two suspects have been arrested with over 330 litres of illegal liquor during two separate raids conducted within the Ragama Police Division.

On July 23, 2026, evening, officers of the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit conducted a raid based on information received in the Podiweekumbura area of the Ragama Police Division and arrested a suspect with 262 litres and 500 millilitres of illegal liquor (350 bottles).

The suspect, a 53-year-old resident of Kandana, was handed over to the Ragama Police Station for further investigations.

Meanwhile, officers of the Ragama Police Station conducted another raid in the Mahara Nugegoda area on the same day and arrested another suspect with 67.5 litres of illegal liquor (90 bottles).

The second suspect is also a 53-year-old resident of the Mahara Nugegoda area.

Ragama Police are conducting further investigations into both incidents.
