Two suspects have been arrested by the Chilaw Police for possessing illegal liquor and “Goda” used in the production of illicit alcohol.

On the night of 27 July 2026, officers of the Chilaw Divisional Narcotics Unit conducted a raid near Karavitaagara Lake in the Chilaw Police Division based on information received.

During the operation, police seized 380 litres (507 bottles) of illegal liquor and 1,012 litres of “Goda” stored in five barrels, which is used for producing illicit alcohol.

The arrested suspects are residents of the Chilaw area aged 33 and 41 years.

Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Chilaw Police.
