Two suspects were arrested with 2 kilograms and 554 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) during a vehicle inspection at the Aparakka checkpoint on the Southern Expressway.

The Expressway Division said the suspects were apprehended on the morning of July 15, 2026, after officers searched a car attempting to enter the expressway towards Colombo. The vehicle used to transport the narcotics was also seized.

The suspects, aged 28 and 32, are residents of Borella. Further investigations are being conducted by the Thihagoda Police.
