Police have arrested two suspects who allegedly attempted to provide drugs and prohibited items to inmates detained at the Magazine Prison in Borella by throwing them over the prison wall.
The two suspects were arrested during a special operation conducted near the side wall of the Magazine Prison on Baseline Road this evening (08).
The suspects were arrested while allegedly attempting to throw two parcels towards the prison. A search of the parcels uncovered 22 grams and 250 milligrams of ‘Ice’ methamphetamine, 02 milligrams of hashish, 250 grams of tobacco, two small mobile phones, two phone chargers, 10 lighters and two pairs of earrings.
Police said both suspects are 29-year-old residents of Colombo 14.
The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (09).
Borella Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
