Traffic on the Hatton-Colombo main road was disrupted today (23) morning after a large tree fell in the Malliappuwa area.

The incident occurred around 6.10 a.m. during a busy morning period when many office workers and school students were travelling along the road.

The fallen tree caused severe traffic congestion on both sides of the road, leaving many commuters inconvenienced.

Following the incident, local residents, estate workers, Road Development Authority employees and Hatton Police officers worked together to remove the fallen tree.

After an operation lasting nearly an hour, the obstruction was completely cleared and traffic movement has now returned to normal.
