Traffic restrictions will be imposed on several roads within the Boralesgamuwa Police Division on August 13, 14 and 15 in connection with the Esala Maha Perahera of the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya, the Police Media Division said.
August 13 – Pawada Perahera
The Pawada Perahera will begin at 7.00 a.m. on August 13 and is expected to conclude around 10.00 a.m.
During this period, traffic on the 119 Maharagama–Dehiwala bus route between Boralesgamuwa Junction and Bellanthara Junction will be restricted.
Vehicles travelling from Maharagama and Piliyandala towards Dehiwala may proceed to Papiliyana Junction, turn left towards Bellanthara via the Spar Roundabout and continue towards Dehiwala via Nedimala.
Vehicles travelling from Werahera Junction towards Boralesgamuwa and Galle Road may use Gangaramaya Road and proceed to Golumadama Junction to access Galle Road.
August 14 – Ranseevali Perahera
The Ranseevali Perahera will commence at 8.00 p.m. on August 14 and is expected to conclude around 2.00 a.m. on August 15.
Traffic on the 119 Maharagama–Dehiwala bus route between Boralesgamuwa Junction and Bellanthara Junction will be restricted during this period.
Vehicles travelling from Dehiwala towards Maharagama may turn left at Bellanthara Junction, proceed to Papiliyana Junction via Route 117 and then turn right towards Boralesgamuwa Junction.
Several alternative routes have also been introduced for heavy vehicles.
August 15 – Randoli Maha Perahera
The Randoli Maha Perahera will begin at 8.00 p.m. on August 15 and is expected to conclude around 4.00 a.m. on August 16.
Traffic restrictions will be imposed at Boralesgamuwa Junction, Bellanthara Junction, Nedimala Junction and along Route 117 from the Attidiya Police Training College Junction to Papiliyana Junction.
Vehicles travelling from Maharagama and Piliyandala towards Dehiwala may proceed to Kohuwala Junction, turn left and access Galle Road via Kohuwala–Kalubowila Road.
Vehicles travelling from Mount Lavinia and Ratmalana towards Maharagama and Boralesgamuwa may turn left at Attidiya Bakery Junction, enter Galle Road, proceed towards Kohuwala and turn right near William Grinding Mills in Dehiwala.
Vehicles travelling from Dehiwala towards Papiliyana may use Andrews Road from Nedimala Junction, turn left towards Kohuwala Junction and continue towards Colombo, Boralesgamuwa or Nugegoda.
Special alternative routes have also been designated for heavy vehicles during the relevant periods.
The Police Media Division has requested the public to cooperate with the traffic arrangements and use the designated alternative routes.
