The Government has declared August 21, 22 and 23 as National Days of Mourning following the death of veteran Sri Lankan singer Dr. Nanda Malini.
The Government Information Department announced that the remains of the late veteran singer will be placed at the “Nanda Malini Sangeetha Ashramaya” at No. 30, Wijayaba Mawatha, Nawala Road, Nugegoda, for public tribute from 10.00 a.m. today (21) until 3.30 p.m. tomorrow (22).
Her final rites are scheduled to be held at 5.00 p.m. tomorrow (22) at the Borella General Cemetery.
Veteran Sri Lankan singer Nanda Malini passed away yesterday (20) at her residence in Nawala at the age of 82.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake expressed his condolences over her death in a post on his X account, describing Nanda Malini as “a true musical legend of our time.”
The President further stated that Nanda Malini’s timeless music had a profound influence on the hearts and minds of people of all generations, and that her remarkable musical legacy would remain alive forever in the hearts of hundreds of thousands of people.
