Three suspects have been arrested with goda, a substance used to manufacture illicit liquor, and illegal liquor during raids conducted in the Katunayake, Hirana and Homagama Police Divisions on August 18, 2026.
A 22-year-old resident of the Gampaha area was arrested with 3,780 litres of goda during a raid conducted in the Kapuwatta area of the Katunayake Police Division in the evening.
Meanwhile, a 53-year-old resident of Aruggoda was arrested with 67 litres and 500 millilitres of illegal liquor and 1,110 litres of goda during a raid conducted in the Aruggoda area of the Hirana Police Division in the afternoon.
In addition, a 33-year-old resident of Homagama was arrested with 2,340 litres of goda during a raid conducted in the Pitipana area of the Homagama Police Division. The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Homagama Police.
Further investigations into the incidents are being conducted by the Katunayake, Hirana and Homagama Police.
