A 25-year-old suspect has been arrested with a foreign-manufactured live grenade and drugs in the Digana area within the Theldeniya Police Division, police said.
Acting on information received on the evening of August 11, 2025, a team of officers from the Theldeniya Police Station conducted a raid in the Digana area.
The suspect was arrested with 5,155 milligrams of “ice” or crystal methamphetamine and Rs. 63,000 in cash, which is suspected to have been earned through drug trafficking.
A detention order has been obtained to hold the suspect for further investigations.
The suspect is a 25-year-old resident of the Digana area.
Based on information revealed during questioning, investigators searched the suspect’s residence and found a foreign-manufactured live grenade, 1,250 milligrams of “ice” methamphetamine, two swords and a pointed knife that had allegedly been carefully concealed.
The Theldeniya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
