A 58-year-old suspect has been arrested with 1,070 litres of “goda,” a fermented substance used to produce illicit liquor, in the Kotugoda area of Minuwangoda.
The arrest was made during a raid conducted by a team of officers from the Minuwangoda Police Special Task Force Camp in Kotugoda on the afternoon of August 8, 2026, based on information received.
The suspect, a resident of Egodawatta, was taken into custody with the substance stored in six barrels.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Minuwangoda Police Station.
Minuwangoda Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
