The Galle District Crime Division had commenced an investigation into an incident in which a 74-year-old man was shot and injured at a house in the Galwehera area within the Ahungalla Police Division in the early hours of October 4, 2026.
Accordingly, a suspect allegedly connected to the incident was arrested by investigating officers in the Galwehera area within the Ahungalla Police Division on the afternoon of October 4.
The suspect is a 26-year-old resident of the Ahungalla area.
Based on information revealed during further questioning of the suspect, a pistol believed to have been used in the crime was also recovered while it was hidden at a house in the Galwehera area.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Galle District Crime Division.
