According to the latest data released by the Department of Census and Statistics, the national poverty line increased to Rs.17,592 in June.
This represents an increase of Rs.277 compared to the poverty line recorded in May.
In June, the poverty line in the Colombo District rose to Rs.18,973, while the figure for the Gampaha District stood at Rs.18,876.
Meanwhile, the lowest poverty line value for June was recorded in the Monaragala District, at Rs.16,821.
