Police are seeking public assistance to arrest a man who was sentenced to death by the Negombo High Court in connection with the murder of a woman in Walpola, within the Ragama Police Division, in 2019.
According to police, the case was heard and the sentence was imposed under the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure after the accused failed to appear before the court.
The accused has been identified as Raneepura Devage Ranuka Eranda Wijetunga, aged 38. His address has been given as No. 35/1, Uggahena, Walpola, Ragama.
Police have released his photograph and requested the public to provide any information that could assist in locating and arresting him.
