A 28-year-old organized crime suspect who had fled Sri Lanka and was hiding in Oman after being issued a Red Notice has been brought back to Sri Lanka early this morning (18).
The suspect, a resident of Mattakkuliya, is wanted in connection with allegations of aiding and abetting the murder of Sanjeewa Kumara Samararatne, also known as ‘Ganemulla Sanjeewa’, aiding and abetting a murder committed within the Mattakkuliya Police Division, and possessing a live hand grenade.
Further investigations will also be conducted into assets suspected to have been illegally acquired through drug trafficking and other organized criminal activities.
The Colombo District Crime Division is conducting further investigations.
