One person has died following a road accident in the Wennappuwa Police Division.

The accident occurred on July 30, 2026, morning, in the Dummaladeniya area on the Colombo–Puttalam Road when a three-wheeler travelling towards Puttalam collided with a lorry that entered the main road from a side road.

The three-wheeler driver and two passengers travelling in the rear were seriously injured and admitted to the Marawila Hospital. One of the passengers later died while receiving treatment.

The deceased was a 58-year-old resident of Waikkala.

The lorry driver has been arrested, and further investigations are being conducted by the Wennappuwa Police.
