A person has died in a motorcycle accident that occurred in the Wilamulla area on the Kirinda–Tissamaharama Road within the Kirinda Police Division.
The accident occurred in the early hours of September 13, 2026, when the rider lost control of the motorcycle travelling towards Kirinda, causing it to veer off the road.
The rider and another person, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, were admitted to Debarawewa Hospital. One of them subsequently died, while the other was transferred to Hambantota Hospital for further treatment.
The deceased was a 21-year-old resident of the Kekirawa area, police said.
The Kirinda Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
