Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over allegations of accepting a Rs. 100 million bribe in connection with an Airbus aircraft transaction, has been further remanded until September 29 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (18).
The Magistrate directed the defence counsel to file a written bail application on September 22. The Bribery Commission, which is the complainant in the case, was directed to submit its objections by September 25.
The Bribery Commission had informed court that Rajapaksa’s arrest was linked to an investigation into an alleged bribe connected to a transaction involving the procurement of Airbus aircraft for SriLankan Airlines.
