A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle collided with a bus on the Kalmunai–Batticaloa Road in the Maruthamunai area on Thursday morning.

According to Police, the motorcycle, which was travelling from Kalmunai towards Batticaloa, reportedly skidded after the rider lost control before colliding with an oncoming bus.

The rider, a resident of Batticaloa, died at the scene. His body has been placed at the Kalmunai North Hospital mortuary.

The bus driver has been arrested, and further investigations are being conducted by the Periyanilavani Police.
