A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a tractor trailer in the Pahala Katugampala area within the Giriulla Police Division.
The accident occurred on the night of August 8, 2026, on the Mathawa Hamanagoda access road when the motorcycle, travelling towards Mathawa, reportedly failed to maintain speed control and collided with the rear of a trailer attached to a tractor travelling ahead.
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in the accident and had already died by the time he was admitted to Dambadeniya Hospital, police said.
The deceased was a 22-year-old resident of the Dambadeniya area.
Giriulla Police are conducting further investigations into the accident.
