A robed individual who allegedly threatened to release nude photographs and videos of a young woman online has been arrested by the Udugama Police.
The Deputy Inspector General’s Office for the Galle District said the suspect is a 33-year-old Buddhist monk who works as a teacher at a junior school.
Police investigations have revealed that the suspect and the woman exchanged nude videos via mobile phones while they were in a romantic relationship.
However, the relationship ended around three months ago. Police said that following the breakup, the suspect allegedly threatened to release the woman’s nude photographs and videos on social media.
The Udugama Police arrested the suspect after acting on a complaint lodged by the woman.
