Mobile Phone Network Exposed Inside Mahara Prison

Investigations have revealed that inmates at Mahara Prison used mobile phones to communicate with relatives and friends outside the prison before and after the recent clashes.

It has been uncovered that following the outbreak of the clashes, some inmates contacted their family members through mobile phones and asked them to gather near the prison premises.

Reports indicate that mobile phone usage is widespread inside Mahara Prison, with long-term inmates allegedly providing phones to newly admitted inmates in exchange for money.

According to prison sources, payments for making calls through these mobile phones were transferred to accounts provided by senior inmates through the Easy Cash system.

Investigations have further revealed that inmates shared information about the situation inside the prison with relatives and friends outside and arranged for them to gather in front of the prison to stage protests.

Sources also claim that several administrative activities inside Mahara Prison had been controlled by some long-term inmates.

Newly admitted inmates were reportedly required to pay money to obtain food, bathing facilities, and water for basic needs, with payments transferred to accounts controlled by senior inmates through Easy Cash.

An investigation has now been launched into the widespread use of mobile phones inside Mahara Prison. It has also been revealed that some prison officers allegedly provided mobile phones to inmates after receiving payments.
