Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Nalin Hewage says the government is considering increasing the minimum age requirement for joining the three-wheeler service as a driver to 40.
The Deputy Minister said the move is being considered with the aim of encouraging young people to pursue further education and vocational training instead of entering the three-wheeler driving sector immediately after completing their school education.
Accordingly, the government is considering raising the minimum age for entering the three-wheeler driving profession to 40, he said.
The Deputy Minister further stated that young people should not be allowed to enter three-wheeler driving immediately after completing school, adding that clear changes are being introduced in the education and vocational training sectors to provide them with better opportunities.
