The illegal assets case filed against former Minister Marvin Silva by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), involving assets worth over Rs. 600 million, is scheduled to be taken up before the Colombo High Court on August 20.

The case has revealed information regarding a number of assets allegedly acquired by politicians through the misuse of political power, according to investigation details.

The case was filed over allegations that Marvin Silva acquired a large amount of wealth that could not be explained through his legitimate sources of income during his tenure as Minister of Labour and Public Relations from March 31, 2010, to March 31, 2012.

Investigations have revealed details regarding his bank accounts, fixed deposits, properties, vehicles and other financial transactions.

The investigations have also uncovered information regarding the purchase of high-value properties in areas including Cinnamon Gardens in Colombo 07, Rajagiriya and Kadawatha, as well as the acquisition of several luxury vehicles.

During the upcoming hearing, bank managers are expected to provide information regarding accounts and financial transactions linked to the accused.

The prosecution is being led by CIABOC Assistant Director Ama Wijesinghe.
