Litro Gas Shortage to End by Tuesday

The shortage of Litro gas in the market is expected to be fully resolved by next Tuesday, according to Litro Gas Chairman Channa Gunawardena.

Speaking to the Hiru News Division, he said the shortage was caused by the suspension of gas distribution over the past two days.

Meanwhile, a vessel carrying 3,900 metric tonnes of gas arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (16). Following its arrival, 100,000 domestic gas cylinders weighing 12.5 kilograms each were released to the market, the chairman said.

A further 100,000 cylinders of the same size were released today (17), while another 85,000 cylinders are scheduled to be distributed tomorrow.

The chairman also stated that another vessel carrying 3,900 metric tonnes of gas is expected to arrive in the country tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Laugfs Gas Chairman Nalinda Kurukulasuriya said two gas shipments are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on the 20th and 24th of this month.

According to him, a vessel carrying 3,800 metric tonnes of gas is expected to arrive at the Hambantota Port, while another vessel carrying 3,500 metric tonnes is scheduled to arrive at the Colombo Port.
