The Attorney General has informed the Colombo High Court that legal action will be taken against a prosecution witness who allegedly gave false evidence in the money laundering case filed against Yoshitha Rajapaksa.
When the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court, Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara drew the court’s attention to the evidence given by prosecution witness Palitha Gamage.
The Deputy Solicitor General informed the court that the witness had given evidence before the court contrary to the statement he had previously provided to the police.
Accordingly, he stated that legal action would be taken against the relevant witness on allegations of giving false evidence.
After considering the submissions made, the Colombo High Court ordered that witness Palitha Gamage be released on bail.
