National People’s Power (NPP) Executive Council member and President’s Counsel Lal Wijenayake has said that despite opposing the 22nd Amendment, he will continue to work within the party alongside the NPP, a daily English newspaper reported.
However, he said he would continue to support the actions taken by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) against the passage of the 22nd Amendment.
Wijenayake also confirmed that he had held discussions with JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and had no intention of leaving the party.
He further said that he does not intend to join protests organised by the united opposition.
