India Hands Over Bailey Bridges to Sri Lanka

As part of India’s ongoing assistance to Sri Lanka, a consignment of Bailey Bridges weighing more than 250 metric tonnes has been handed over to Sri Lanka.

The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka said the bridges are part of India’s US$450 million reconstruction and relief package launched following Cyclone Ditwah.

Indian Army engineers are scheduled to install the bridges at locations across the island.

The bridges are expected to help restore essential transport connectivity and strengthen Sri Lanka’s infrastructure, particularly in areas affected by the cyclone.
