The French Parliament has passed legislation banning social media use by children under the age of 15.
With this move, France has become the first European Union member state to prohibit social media access for children under 15.
Under the new law, children below the age of 15 will not be allowed to create new social media accounts from September 1. The restrictions will also apply to existing accounts starting in January 2027.
