Four suspects have been arrested by the Mount Lavinia Police in connection with a grenade attack on a house in the Ratmalana area.
Mount Lavinia Police launched an investigation into the incident after a grenade was thrown at a house in the Ratmalana area within the Mount Lavinia Police Division on August 5, 2026.
Accordingly, a team of officers from the Mount Lavinia Police arrested four suspects in the Moratuwa and Ratmalana areas on the evening of August 8.
The suspects, aged 21, 26, 28 and 30, are residents of Moratuwa and Ratmalana, police said.
Initial investigations have revealed that the attack was allegedly carried out under the direction of an organised criminal currently residing overseas. Police have also found that a dispute between organised criminal groups may have led to the attack.
Mount Lavinia Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
